At the heart of the 1Revolution experience are our summer rites of-competence and rites-of-passage courses. Facilitated by guides steeped in nature connection, wilderness adventure, and age-appropriate mentoring skills, participants can expect to know meaningful connection to others and the land, to test their emotional and physical limits within a supportive group environment, and to experience the emergence of a new sense of self.

Central to each of our programs are our send-off and return ceremonies at the beginning and end of the trip. These simple, elder-led ceremonies allow family and participant alike an opportunity to meet the passage and embed the experience in a community setting.

Our participants’ physical and emotional safety is our first priority. 1Revolution is fully insured and each guide is certified in First Aid and CPR. All programs are inclusive of necessary gear (excluding personal clothing), transportation, and healthy, organic food (excluding Monday and Tuesday Trackers courses).

The Four Shields Initiation group beginning March 30th, 2014 is a 12-month initiation for young men, ages 14-17. With the support of their families and the community-at-large, participants will support one another through the four seasons/shields. Through the reflections of the natural world and each other participants will distill an authentic self as they cross the threshold from early adolescence into late adolescence, ultimately, making more likely an appropriate transition into adulthood.

Participants will immerse in local ecosystems and wild places meeting both the majesty and mystery of the outdoors. The Four Shields Initiation will utilize 1Revolution’s essential elements:  nature connection, wilderness adventure, experiential group process, community-supported ceremony and service. Participants will be challenged emotionally, physically, and even spiritually, with the support of a healthy peer group.

Generally, participants will meet monthly throughout the year, usually on Sundays. Interspersed with the monthly explorations will be two overnight trips, a 7-day rites-of-passage journey July 13-19, two or three nighttime Fire Councils, and a culminating multi-night vision quest.
