Part epic road trip, part cross-cultural exploration, and part wilderness adventure, this 12-day trip will explore the land and people of Southwest Colorado. Built around our leadership development curriculum, the exploration begins with a 24-hour stay at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center where we will gain insight into both the ancient Anasazi Culture and the local Ute and Navajo cultures. From there, we will journey deep into the Rockies for a 4-day/3-night backpacking expedition, followed by a 2-day whitewater clinic in either hardshell or inflatable kayaks on the San Juan and/or Animas Rivers. The trip will culminate with an immersion in the Southern Ute Reservation in Ignacio, Colorado.
